Jitu Patwari Concludes 24-Hour Congress Seva Dal Fast Over Farmers’ Demands in Bhopal

Date:

BHOPAL, MADHYA PRADESH — Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari formally concluded a 24-hour fast organised by the Congress Seva Dal in Bhopal, which was held to highlight the concerns and demands of farmers in the state. The fast was brought to an end when Patwari offered juice to Avneesh Bhargava, President of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Seva Dal, marking the completion of the protest.

The fast, which lasted for an entire day, was organised as part of the Congress party’s ongoing efforts to draw attention to the issues faced by farmers, including concerns related to crop prices, procurement, compensation, and overall agricultural support. Party leaders and workers participated in the protest to express solidarity with farmers and to demand action from the state government.

Speaking on the occasion, Patwari reiterated that farmers’ welfare remains a top priority for the Congress party, and such protests are aimed at ensuring that their voices are heard. He said that the agricultural sector is the backbone of the economy, and any challenges faced by farmers must be addressed with urgency and seriousness.

The Congress leader emphasised that the 24-hour fast was not just a symbolic act but a strong message to the government regarding the need to take concrete steps for farmers’ benefit. He said that the protest was organised peacefully and in a democratic manner, reflecting the party’s commitment to raising public issues through legitimate means.

Avneesh Bhargava, who led the fast, was joined by several Congress Seva Dal members and supporters. The participation of party workers highlighted the organisational effort behind the protest and the importance the party places on farmers’ concerns.

Patwari stated that farmers in Madhya Pradesh are facing multiple challenges, including rising input costs, fluctuating market prices, and delays in receiving payments. He said that these issues have put financial pressure on farmers, making it difficult for them to sustain their livelihoods.

He also pointed out that timely procurement and fair pricing are essential to ensure that farmers receive adequate returns for their produce. According to him, delays or inefficiencies in procurement systems can significantly impact farmers’ income and well-being.

The Congress leader further said that the party has been consistently raising these issues at various levels, including through protests, public meetings, and discussions with authorities. He added that the 24-hour fast is part of a broader campaign to highlight farmers’ grievances and push for policy changes.

Observers note that such protests are a common feature of democratic politics, where opposition parties use various methods to bring attention to public concerns and hold the government accountable. The focus on farmers’ issues reflects their importance in the political discourse of the state.

Patwari also called on the government to engage in meaningful dialogue with farmers and address their demands promptly. He said that cooperation between the government and stakeholders is necessary to resolve issues effectively and ensure the stability of the agricultural sector.

He reiterated that the Congress will continue to stand with farmers and advocate for policies that support their welfare and improve their economic conditions. He said that sustained efforts are needed to bring about long-term improvements in the sector.

The conclusion of the fast was marked by a simple yet symbolic gesture of offering juice, signifying the end of the protest while reinforcing the message behind it.

The 24-hour fast in Bhopal highlights the continued focus on farmers’ issues in Madhya Pradesh, with the Congress party using peaceful protest as a means to demand action and raise awareness about the challenges faced by the agricultural community.
