Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

In a major policy decision aimed at strengthening farmer welfare, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced a significant increase in compensation for agricultural land acquisition, calling it a historic step that will directly benefit farmers across the state.

Addressing a press briefing in Bhopal, the Chief Minister described the day as a landmark moment for the agricultural community. “For us, today is a significant day, especially in the area of farmers’ welfare,” he stated, emphasizing the government’s continued focus on policies that uplift rural livelihoods and support those dependent on farming.

The key highlight of the Cabinet decision is the substantial revision in compensation rates for acquired agricultural land. The government has decided to increase compensation up to four times the existing rate, a move that is expected to provide greater financial security to farmers whose land is acquired for development or infrastructure projects.

According to Mohan Yadav, the decision has been taken after careful consideration of farmers’ concerns and the need to ensure fair valuation of their land. He noted that land acquisition has often been a sensitive issue, with farmers seeking just compensation that reflects both the economic and emotional value of their land.

“This is a historic decision that will directly benefit farmers whose livelihood depends on agriculture,” the Chief Minister said, underlining the transformative impact the move is expected to have. He added that the revised compensation structure will not only address long-standing grievances but also build greater trust between farmers and the administration.

The decision comes at a time when infrastructure development and industrial expansion are gaining momentum in the state, often requiring acquisition of agricultural land. By enhancing compensation, the government aims to strike a balance between development needs and the protection of farmers’ interests.

Officials believe that this move will encourage smoother land acquisition processes, reduce disputes, and ensure that farmers are adequately compensated for their contributions to the state’s growth. The enhanced compensation is also expected to provide farmers with better financial resources to reinvest in agriculture, alternative livelihoods, or other economic activities.

Mohan Yadav further highlighted that the Cabinet collectively supported the decision, reflecting a unified approach toward farmer welfare. He stressed that such policy measures are part of a broader vision to strengthen the rural economy and ensure inclusive development.

The announcement has been welcomed as a progressive step, particularly in a state where a large section of the population depends on agriculture for their livelihood. By prioritizing fair compensation, the government seeks to address one of the most critical challenges faced by farmers in the context of development projects.

The Chief Minister also indicated that the government will continue to introduce reforms and initiatives aimed at improving the agricultural sector, ensuring that farmers receive both economic support and policy backing.

With this decision, Madhya Pradesh takes a decisive step toward safeguarding farmers’ interests while advancing development, marking a significant milestone in the state’s approach to land acquisition and rural welfare.
