Three Arrested in Ransom Threat Case Linked to Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, Says STF DIG Rahul Lodha..

BHOPAL, MADHYA PRADESH — In a significant breakthrough, the Madhya Pradesh Police have arrested three individuals in connection with a ransom threat case allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, officials said. The arrests were made following an investigation into a threatening video and ransom demand received by a complainant, according to STF DIG Rahul Lodha.

Addressing the media in Bhopal, Lodha explained that the case began when a complainant received a ransom demand from an individual identifying himself as “Harry Boxer,” who claimed to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Along with the demand, the victim was sent a threatening video, which raised serious concerns and prompted immediate police action.

The case was taken up by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), which launched a detailed probe to trace the origin of the video and identify those involved. According to Lodha, investigators were able to track the video back to a person named Nirmal Tiwari, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

Following this lead, police teams moved swiftly and arrested Tiwari. During interrogation, he revealed that he had been hired to shoot the threatening video, which was then used as part of the extortion attempt. His statement provided crucial information that helped investigators move further in the case.

Lodha said that Tiwari disclosed that he was hired by Anand Mishra, who acted as an intermediary in the operation. Based on this information, police arrested Mishra, who was found to be directly involved in orchestrating the plan.

Further investigation revealed another key link in the case. According to Lodha, financial support for the operation was provided by Jaiprakash Dara, who was subsequently taken into custody from Rajasthan. With this, a total of three individuals were arrested in connection with the case.

The STF DIG stated that both Anand Mishra and Jaiprakash Dara have prior criminal records and were also associated with a gang, indicating a pattern of organised criminal activity. He added that their backgrounds are being thoroughly examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

Officials said that the case highlights how criminal networks attempt to create fear through digital means, including videos and online communication, to carry out extortion. The use of a threatening video in this case was intended to intimidate the victim and force compliance with the ransom demand.

Lodha emphasised that the police acted promptly and effectively, ensuring that the accused were identified and arrested before any further harm could occur. He said that such swift action is necessary to maintain law and order and prevent the spread of organised crime activities.

The investigation also underscores the importance of cyber and technical analysis in modern policing, as tracking digital content played a key role in solving the case. Authorities used technological tools to trace the origin of the video and identify the individuals involved.

Police officials have assured that further investigation is underway to determine whether there are additional links to larger criminal networks, including any direct connections to members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Lodha also urged citizens to report any such threats or suspicious activities immediately, assuring that law enforcement agencies are equipped to handle such cases effectively. He said that public cooperation is essential in tackling organised crime.

Observers note that cases involving ransom threats and gang links have been a growing concern, with law enforcement agencies increasingly focusing on dismantling such networks.

The STF has indicated that it will continue to investigate all angles of the case, including financial transactions and communication channels, to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.

The arrests mark a significant step in cracking down on organised crime and extortion attempts, with authorities reiterating their commitment to ensuring public safety and taking strict action against those involved in such activities.
