The counting of votes for the Assembly by-elections in Bihar, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh is currently underway following polling held on July 30.
Election authorities have implemented comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a smooth and transparent counting process across all three states.
The by-elections were conducted for the following Assembly seats:
- Bankipur – Bihar
- Manjalpur – Gujarat
- Datia – Madhya Pradesh
These constituencies went to the polls on July 30, and the results will determine the new representatives for the vacant seats.
As per Election Commission procedures:
- Postal ballots are being counted first.
- Counting of votes recorded in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) follows thereafter.
This standard process ensures that postal votes are included before the final tally of EVM votes.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has deployed robust security measures at all counting centres to maintain law and order and ensure a fair counting process.
Security personnel, election officials, and observers are monitoring the proceedings throughout the day.
For the Datia Assembly constituency in Madhya Pradesh:
- Counting is taking place at the Government Polytechnic College.
- 20 counting tables have been set up to facilitate the counting process efficiently.
Officials are following all prescribed Election Commission guidelines during the exercise.
Although limited to three Assembly constituencies, these by-elections are politically significant for the respective states, as the results will:
- Fill vacant legislative seats.
- Reflect local voter sentiment.
- Influence the political strength of parties in the state assemblies.
