GUNA, MADHYA PRADESH – Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia hailed today as a landmark moment in the industrial history of the Gwalior-Chambal region. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for a new cement grinding unit, the Minister emphasized that the arrival of major industry in Guna marks the beginning of a new era of regional self-reliance and dignity for the local population.
The project, which involves a massive investment by the Adani Group, was officially initiated in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Pranav Adani, Managing Director of Adani Enterprises.
“A Life of Dignity for Our Youth”
During his address, Minister Scindia expressed a deep emotional and professional connection to the development, noting that for decades, the youth of Guna and surrounding districts were forced to migrate to distant states in search of stable work.
The Minister elaborated on the socio-economic impact of the project, framing it as a solution to regional unemployment:
- Localized Employment: The plant is expected to provide “dignified employment” to the youth within their own home region.
- Family Stability: By creating jobs locally, the project allows young professionals to build their careers while staying close to their families and roots.
- Industrial Hub: Scindia noted that this is the first major cement unit in the Gwalior-Chambal region, a sector traditionally underserved by large-scale industrial players.
Strategic Regional Development
Minister Scindia credited the “double-engine” effort of the Central and State governments for bringing this vision to life. He highlighted that while his office worked tirelessly to attract large-scale investment to his constituency, the state government under CM Mohan Yadav ensured the rapid allocation of land and necessary approvals.
The Minister emphasized that this plant is not an isolated project but part of a broader strategy to transform Madhya Pradesh into an industrial powerhouse.
Economic Scale and Future Outlook
The facility is slated to be a high-tech grinding unit with a capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum. According to the Minister, the sheer scale of the investment—exceeding ₹1,060 crore—will trigger a “multiplier effect” across the local economy.
Scindia pointed out several key benefits that will follow the plant’s commissioning:
- Revenue Growth: The project is estimated to contribute significantly to the state’s revenue through taxes and duties over the coming decades.
- Infrastructure Boost: The logistics required to support a 4-million-tonne plant will lead to improved road and rail connectivity in the Guna district.
- Ancillary Opportunities: The Minister highlighted that the plant would create a demand for local transporters, service providers, and small-scale vendors, further boosting the regional GDP.
A Promise Fulfilled
Concluding his speech, Scindia reiterated his commitment to the people of Guna, stating that the project is a “firm step” toward translating investment promises into ground-level reality. He thanked the Adani Group for choosing Guna as a strategic location, noting that this project would set a precedent for future industrial giants to look toward Northern Madhya Pradesh as a viable and thriving investment destination.
The groundbreaking ceremony concluded with the Minister inspecting a departmental exhibition, where he interacted with local beneficiaries of various government schemes, reinforcing the message that industrial growth and social welfare must go hand-in-hand.
