Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
In a major push to strengthen tourism and improve connectivity across key destinations, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the launch of the ‘PM Shri Heli Tourism Service’, calling it a historic step for the state’s development and tourism sector.
Addressing the launch event in Bhopal, the Chief Minister highlighted that the newly introduced helicopter service will operate on the third tourism circuit connecting Bhopal, Chanderi, and Orchha, providing a faster and more convenient travel option for tourists. He emphasized that the initiative is aimed at enhancing accessibility to culturally and spiritually significant destinations.
“Today is a historic day for Madhya Pradesh,” Mohan Yadav stated, underlining the importance of expanding tourism infrastructure and making travel more seamless for visitors. The service is being introduced through the state’s Tourism Department as part of a broader vision to modernize and diversify tourism offerings.
The Chief Minister also spoke extensively about the development of Orchha, a city known for its deep religious and historical significance. He noted that extensive construction and beautification work has been carried out in the city, particularly around temples, to improve facilities for pilgrims and tourists while preserving its cultural heritage.
The launch of this third circuit follows earlier successful initiatives under the heli tourism program. Yadav recalled that the first circuit connected Indore and Ujjain, covering major religious sites such as Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Mahakaleshwar, and Mamleshwar, offering pilgrims a quicker route to prominent spiritual centers.
Subsequently, the second circuit expanded the network to include a wide range of destinations, combining religious and natural attractions. This circuit covered locations like Chitrakoot, Maihar, Pachmarhi, Amarkantak, Bandhavgarh, and Pench, thereby integrating pilgrimage sites with scenic and wildlife tourism hubs.
The introduction of the third circuit is expected to further strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position as a diverse tourism destination, blending spirituality, heritage, and nature into a unified travel experience. Officials believe that improved air connectivity will not only attract more visitors but also significantly reduce travel time between key locations.
The initiative reflects a broader strategy to promote regional tourism while boosting economic activity in smaller towns and heritage sites. By providing faster and more efficient transport options, the government aims to make these destinations more accessible to both domestic and international travelers.
With the launch of the PM Shri Heli Tourism Service, Madhya Pradesh is taking a decisive step toward transforming its tourism landscape, offering a modern travel experience while preserving its rich cultural and spiritual legacy.
