Mohan Yadav Criticises Opposition Over Defeat of Women’s Reservation Bill…

Date:

BHOPAL, MADHYA PRADESH — Chief Minister Mohan Yadav strongly criticised the opposition after the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, related to women’s reservation, failed to pass in Parliament.

Speaking in Bhopal, Yadav said that there is widespread anger across the country over the defeat of the bill, which was linked to the implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. He accused the Congress and other opposition parties of deliberately opposing the legislation and blocking progress on women’s rights.

He stated that Madhya Pradesh stands firmly with women, adding that the state government and its leadership support efforts to ensure greater representation and empowerment of women in politics. According to him, the bill was an important step towards giving women their rightful place in decision-making bodies like Parliament and State Assemblies.

Yadav further said that leaders and citizens alike are expressing their protest against the opposition’s stance, describing it as a setback for women’s empowerment. He added that denying such an opportunity to women has hurt the sentiments of people across the country.

Calling the development unfortunate, the Chief Minister said that the opposition’s move has delayed a long-awaited reform, which could have strengthened democratic participation by ensuring adequate representation of women.

He emphasised that women have played a crucial role in the country’s growth and development, and policies should reflect their contribution by giving them equal opportunities in governance.

The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions between the ruling party and opposition over the Women’s Reservation issue, with both sides accusing each other of political motives behind their actions.

Mohan Yadav concluded by condemning the opposition’s stand and reaffirmed his government’s support for women’s rights, stating that efforts to empower women will continue despite the setback in Parliament.
